NM2087 Mozart fantasia for a mechanical organ No.1, K 594
One of two works commissioned from Mozart to be played on the hour every hour by a mechanical organ in a mausoleum. Both are written as A SINGLE CONTINUOUS MOVEMENT but both are effectively a number of movements at different tempi played continuously. The woodwind ensemble without horns was chosen for the arrangements as their sound suited the works that were originally written for a pipe organ. Both fantasia ARE SUBSTANTIAL (2Fl./2Ob./2Cl./2Bsn).
