Reinecke wrote two works for Clarinet, Viola and Piano.

The first was written for Viola with an alternative Horn version.  This viola part readily transforms into basset horn and the complete work has been arranged for this combination (NM2162)

The second was originally written for clarinet, horn and piano.  Reinecke then yielded to pressure from his publisher and produced a version replacing the horn with viola.  In two of the movements the original genetics of the  horn parts  are very obvious and would not sit easily on a basset horn. However the melody of the  romantic andante was irresistable and would clearly stand alone, hence this sextet arrangement
